Description
Today, we present you with a gem brought to us by the talented R.T. Frisk. Suicide Blitz is a sprawling five-map campaign set in Fort Harris County. Starting in an apartment building, the Survivors must make their way through sewers, city streets, and train tracks to get to a helicopter rescue in the city football stadium.
I'm going to be completely up-front with my opinion:
This is what No Mercy should have been. Everyone who aspires to make their own Left 4 Dead levels can learn something from this campaign. The level design is flawless, the texturing is superb, and the urban locale presented is very convincing. New NPC sounds help give a sense of immersion most other campaigns lack. It's even well-optimized for low-end systems. It really feels like something Valve would have released officially.
For all the Versus Mode fanatics out there, there are a multitude of high-damage vantage points for Hunters, as well as tight corners which are ideal for Boomers. There's even for Survival Mode on four out of five maps. Overall, this is a very impressive package, and I don't hesitate in putting it in the same "perfect score" league as Dead Before Dawn and Silent Fear, if not higher. It may not be anything new gameplay-wise, but the core of what makes Left 4 Dead so enjoyable is refined and honed to perfection. The professionalism present in this work is remarkable, and I recommend it to anyone willing to it.
