Atlast!, at long time waiting, Garry's Mod v9.0 Has been released! Among the new features of the new release is the integration of Lua script into the game engine that allows s to easily create their own gametypes and weapons by using a script that will interact with the Half Life engine. This feature will allow aspiring mod authors to bring their visions to life through GMod and make it available to anyone just by starting a server as the script runs server side the client needs only to have GMod 9.0 installed to be able to play! Be sure to delete any old versions before installing this new one.
